The secret ingredient is always love

Hi, I’m Jill and I love to bake. When I was a freshman in college, I discovered the magic of making cookies. I found that if I had cookies to offer people, it was very easier for me to make friends. Nobody was interested in talking with me about cloud formations or the geology of the surrounding mountains; however, if I had cookies, that gave me something to talk about. I discovered that good cookies really made people happy, and that making good cookies for people made me happy. I began collecting the best recipes from family members, from various cookbooks, from the packaging of baking supplies, and also from the newspaper.

I made this website to share my recipes. Although baked goods are my favorite, I’m also including my recipes for easy dinners and other foods that have become Dorrough classics. You’ll also get a glimpse of my kitchen, the tools I love, products I use, and probably a lesson or two about meteorology. I can’t help it. I love clouds.

People often ask me if I have a secret ingredient, or if I purposely leave out an ingredient so others can’t make my recipes. Here’s the truth: my secret ingredient is always love. That’s it. Just follow the recipes, buy the best quality ingredients you can, don’t substitute ingredients, and throw your heart into the making.
